Autodesk CAD Overlay 2002 is an add-on for AutoCAD 2002 that enables designers to work with scanned drawings and other raster images directly within the DWG environment. Developed by Autodesk, Inc., it provides tools to insert, display, calibrate, and edit raster files alongside native CAD geometry, and to convert raster linework into accurate vector entities. Key capabilities include image cleanup (deskew, despeckle, invert, crop, and mask), correlation and rubbersheeting to align images to known coordinates, raster snaps and tracing aids, and both automatic and interactive vectorization of lines, arcs, circles, and polylines. It supports common engineering raster formats such as TIFF, JPEG, BMP, and CALS, integrates with AutoCAD layers and plotting, and helps AEC, civil, utilities, and mapping teams reuse legacy drawings without redrafting. CAD Overlay 2002 runs with AutoCAD 2002 on Windows and is broadly recognized as the predecessor to Autodesk Raster Design.
